oordinated Logging Investigation Monitors Altering Terrestrial EnvironmentsENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING OF U.K. HABITATS
Special Investigation Date: 11th August 1999
SUN TOTAL ECLIPSE
Recording Time: 0900 - 1500 hours
Schools are urged to conduct the CLIMATE investigation on August 11th.
This will allow schools to monitor the eclipse in a meaningful way.
Collected data from different geographical locations of the Britain will:
(1) Describe some important effects upon different habitat types
(2) Allow comparisons among a variety of locations experiencing different degrees of eclipse.
(3) Provide important environmental indices of the total or partial eclipse.
(b) ECLIPSE and NET Quest
Links between the British total eclipse and the NET Quest expedition
(1) NET Quest takes place in Britain in 1999
(2) NET Quest begins from the eclipse epicentre in Britain (Lizard point, Cornwall).
(3) NET Quest will be ongoing on the day of the eclipse, 11th August.
(4) Schools can record the eclipse as part of the CLIMATE study during NET Quest.
(5) David Murray will carry out the CLIMATE investigation on the day of the eclipse at a presently uncertain location in Britain.
(6) Results from CLIMATE (Eclipse 1999) can be recorded as part of the Dreaming 2000 conservation project for schools.
